SAT 02:30 The Lost Art of Churches (b01hl41c)
Large amounts of important, modernist visual art commissioned by the Church in the 20th century are in danger of being forgotten.
No central records exist of these artworks - paintings, sculptures, stained glass, murals, tapestries and icons – with many shut away, victims of a change in fashion or worries about their vulnerability.
Paul Bayley of the ACE Trust (Art and Christian Enquiry, promoting contemporary art in UK churches) locates examples that illustrate the variety of art that can be found if you look for it.
In Hayes, Middlesex, at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, he finds Annigonni's late 1950s painting of the Madonna and Child featuring an atomic explosion rendered in gold leaf in the background.
At St Johns, Waterloo, he examines two paintings by the German Jewish refugee from the Nazis, Hans Feibusch, who became probably the most prolific church artist in Britain in the last century. And in London’s Soho, in the French-speaking Church of Notre Dame, Paul meets art restorers who have been rescuing unique murals painted by Jean Cocteau, which were damaged by graffiti and spilt soft drinks.
One of the discoveries that most excites Paul is a large crucifixion painted by Graham Sutherland in St Aidan's East Acton, in the early 1960s.
But not all church art, Paul discovers, is situated in church buildings. The Methodist Art Collection was set up to be taken around the country and exhibited in different venues, and is still commissioning new work.
Paul also travels to Northumberland, where, at the tiny church of St John, Healey, he sees award-winning new work in two windows created by James Hugonin and the Danish-born Anne Vibeke Mou.

The Story of EH Gombrich
For decades EH Gombrich inspired readers across the globe.
Leonie Gombrich and Rob Newman use his archives to tell the story of a man who taught the world how to see and read art.
"There really is no such thing as Art. There are only artists." So begins EH Gombrich's The Story Of Art, currently in its 16th edition and translated into more than 30 languages. It was the book that opened the door to human creativity for millions across the globe.
But what of the man himself? What of the Austrian émigré, who spent 15 years in Britain as a 'restricted alien' before becoming one of the UK's most honoured scholars?
The man who broke the BBC news story alerting Churchill to the death of Hitler; whose vast network of relationships and correspondence with the likes of Karl Popper, Anna Freud and Antony Blunt was like the internet before the internet? And who, through such books as varied as A Little History Of The World and Art & Illusion, taught the world how to see.
Comedian and author Robert Newman has long been fascinated by Gombrich's intellectual circle, which he regularly references in his shows and his writing. He has not only read all of Gombrich's books but has also befriended Leonie Gombrich - who inherited her grandfather's vast private collection of letters which she keeps along with a cache of personal, and previously unheard, private tapes.
Leonie and Rob play excerpts from Gombrich family recordings and from his appearances on shows like Desert Island Discs and BBC Radio 3. They also select choice passages from the letters he sent and received, painting a portrait of another time.

The Perfect Body
Quizzical everywoman and stand-up poet Kate Fox explores some of the things she does not want in life (and which she's cheerfully failed to achieve)
Find out how much she’s saved emotionally and financially in the process.
Kate kicks off with the subject of the perfect body.
Every day we’re confronted with images of perfection, but do these unrealistic ideals actually reflect the diverse society we live in?
How guilty should you feel if you both agree that speaking out against the bodily exploitation of Miley Cyrus was an inspiring feminist move, and at the same time find yourself thinking that Sinead O' Connor would look ever so nice with a short bob?
Kate has a past of yo-yo dieting and bad make up application - and somehow missed the memo when "all the ladygardens went Kojak" back in 2006.
With personal grooming over a lifetime coming in at £234,000 for women and £75,000 for men, could this be spent in other ways that make us feel good. A season ticket to Diggerland, a Nando's Gold Card, your own private forest?
Kate Fox is from the North East of England. She’s contributed poems and comic pieces to many Radio 4 shows like Saturday Live, Wondermentalist Cabaret, From Fact to Fiction, Woman's Hour and Arthur Smith's Balham Bash.

SAT 23:00 Tim Key's Suspended Sentence (b0128pyh)
Truths universally acknowledged. Clocks striking 13. Bests and worsts of times. A truly great opening line can make a novel iconic. But what makes these famous first sentences sing to us?
Comedian and poet Tim Key is on the case!
After chasing down the meaning of Nikolai Gogol's enigmatic short story "The Overcoat", Tim tries to sleuth out what makes a great literary opening line with the help of author Joe Dunthorne, comedian Mark Watson, and literary critics Maureen Freely and John Sutherland.
You see, Tim's desperate to write his first novel - it's in him, just waiting, waiting to be unleashed. If only he could think of a good beginning with the ultimate opening line...
Tim also tries to galvanise his imagination - taking a spin of one of the world's strangest literary board games...
The pressure's on, as we hear a roll-call of some of the finest and most famous first lines in publishing history - from Dickens to Dostoevsky to uh, Dan Brown.
Overwhelmed with information, we also hear a crash course on what not to do - as Tim visits Knebworth House, ancestral pile of a man whose most famous first sentence is legendary for all the wrong reasons: Edward Bulwer-Lytton, author of the infamous "It was a dark and stormy night..."
Finally it's time to try out Tim's sentence of the unsuspecting public, as he visits the award-winning Brick Lane Book Club for a focus group...before in the final moments, he unleashes that killer first sentence on the world...(so then Tim: what comes next?).

Jack Dee
From Bob Dylan to Petula Clark.
Comedian, actor and writer Jack Dee shares his castaway choices with Kirsty Young
Jack's persona is that of the laconic miserabilist - his hit sit-com was called "Lead Balloon" and his autobiography entitled "Thanks For Nothing".
That is only part of the picture: even though show business was in the family – Jack's great grandparents were in music hall – his early working life ranged all over the place. From grafting in the kitchens of The Ritz to working in an artificial leg factory - at one point he even seriously considered the priesthood.
He says his caustic, ironic, sarcastic comedy comes from "a sort of realism. You can't escape the dark stuff in life ... and my way of dealing with that is to absorb it into my life so that it's no longer worrying for me."

Two cold callers feature in this episode. Jennifer Langston from Ontario in Canada sent this message to curiouscases@bbc.co.uk:
"My husband has just taken up cold water swimming and he'll swim in temperatures as low as 6 degrees Celsius. I worry that it's too cold for him, but he claims that 'swimming in cold water is good for you', which drives me bonkers. Can you tell us if there is any scientific proof behind this?”
Adam takes a trip to his local lido and asks the locals why they get a kick out of a chilly winter dip. Meanwhile, Hannah calls the Antarctic to talk to meteorologist Richard Warren about the perils of a frozen beard.
Our second cold caller, Sarah Dudley, asks why women get cold feet in bed. Thermal physiologist Heather Massey is on hand with the answer.
But when it comes to the natural world, other animals are masters of sub-zero living. Frozen Planet producer Kathryn Jeffs, from the BBC's Natural History Unit, explains why polar bears are perfectly designed for the Arctic. And we discover why Paddington Bear is better suited to Peru.

Mixtape 1 Dakou
Radiolab is a Peabody-award-winning show about curiosity. Where sound illuminates ideas, and the boundaries blur between science, philosophy, and the human experience.
Radiolab Mixtape, a special 4 part series
Radiolab Mixtape 1: Dakou explores how musicians who took the damaged plastic scraps of Western music, changed the musical landscape of China.
Through the 1980s, the vast majority of people in China had never heard Western music, save for John Denver, the Carpenters, and a few other artists included on the hand-picked list of songs sanctioned by the Communist Party. But in the late 90s, a mysterious man named Professor Ye made a discovery at a plastic recycling center in Heping. In episode 1 Mixtape, Radiolab talks to Chinese historians, music critics, and the musicians who took the damaged plastic scraps of Western music, changed the musical landscape of China, and reimagined rock and roll in ways we never could’ve imagined.

The Verse That Stings
Daljit Nagra revisits the BBC's poetry archive and selects The Verse that Stings in which Ian Hislop celebrates the sharp, deflating barbs of Alexander Pope and the 18th Century satirists.
Ian first came across Alexander Pope, Jonathan Swift and the poems of the 18th Century Scriblerus club at school and later studied them at university. He was struck by these rude, offensive and funny poems about the government, the aristocracy and the machinations of power.
As the editor of the satirical magazine Private Eye, Ian views a direct line between his work and Pope's biting satire. Pope and his circle of literary friends debated how offensive their satires should be and whether or not to name and shame subjects.
Ian meets Armando Iannucci, the creator of television satires including The Thick Of It and Veep, who compares the rhythms of Alexander Pope's couplets to the comedian's perfect punch line.
Ian visits Hampton Court Palace, the setting of the long poem that made Pope's name, The Rape of The Lock. Professor Judith Hawley of Royal Holloway University, helps uncover its true story of a trivial confrontation between two leading Catholics of the time.
Professor Edith Hall of Kings College London describes how Pope and the Scriblerians were in awe of Juvenal, Rome's most vitriolic satirist. And Christopher Reid, author of Six Bad Poets a farce in verse about London's literary establishment, explains why some poets are reluctant to write satires today.

SUN 15:30 In Search of Originality (b01fd4v4)
Is it still possible to do anything truly original? And why should we care if it isn't?
Ian Peacock finds out, with a challenge to come up with just one original thought of his own: a new sound to end a radio programme.
'Creation is the art of concealing your sources' is a mantra attributed to any number of great thinkers, Einstein among them. And if we are not convinced that Einstein was original, who is?
Ian sets off on a Kafkaesque quest for true originality. But his infectious optimism quickly begins to crack. Doubts set in during a trip to the UK Patent Office, surely a bastion of unalloyed originality. Patents it seems are rarely built on blinding flashes of inspiration, more on incremental development.
For help he turns to Kane Kramer, self-proclaimed inventor of the digital audio player, who also runs a side-line helping people nurture their own creativity. Is there originality lurking within us all, or is this a gift you have to be born with?
According to writer Winifred Gallagher, invention is an instinct lurking within all of us, if only you can work out how to harness it.
As Ian's increasingly philosophical journey evolves, ever more curious sounds emerge from a quartet of specially-engaged minds, holed up in a darkened anechoic chamber and challenged by Ian to devise the most original sound ever for the programme's finale.
At times it sounds more like a children's party than a route to blinding new truths as this menagerie of professors and artists clank together random objects. The result, when at last it appears, turns out to be, well, interesting.
Have these great brains achieved the ultimate alchemist's dream? Or are we doomed, in the era of the mash-up never to achieve originality again? And would that even matter?

MON 14:00 The Suspicions of Mr Whicher by Kate Summerscale (b009ppjg)
Episode 1
Deborah Findlay reads from Kate Summerscale's account of a Victorian murder case that gripped the nation.
The crime: One summer's night in 1860 an unimaginably gruesome murder takes place in a remote Georgian country house. The household reverberates with shock, not least because it seems the murderer is still among them.
Called to the scene is Jack Whicher of Scotland Yard, the most celebrated detective of his day, whose methods go on to influence the writing of Wilkie Collins, Charles Dickens, and Arthur Conan-Doyle. With only an inept local police force to help him, he faces an unenviable task - to solve a case in which all the grieving family are suspects.

1. The Ratcliffe Highway Murders
"We are a trading community - a commercial people. Murder is, doubtless, a very shocking offence; nevertheless, as what is done is not to be undone, let us make our money out of it." Punch, 1842
Over the course of the nineteenth century, murder - in reality a rarity - became ubiquitous: transformed into novels, into broadsides and ballads, into theatre and melodrama. Seeing therein the foundation of modern notions of crime, "The Invention of Murder" explores this fascination with deadly violence by relating some of the century's most gripping and gruesome cases and the ways in which they were commercially exploited.
The Ratcliffe Highway murders of 1811 were particularly dreadful: two separate sets of killings in which seven people lost their lives. It was a case that shocked the nation - this was half as many people as had been murdered in the entire previous year throughout England and Wales - and forced the establishment to rethink the policing of major cities.
By Judith Flanders.

Abridged by David Jackson Young.
Produced by Kirsteen Cameron.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in January 2011.
MON 14:30 The Body of Art (b00kt8r3)
Bob Dickinson talks to performance artists who have used their own bodies as a site for art, and in doing so challenged the limits of what it means to be human.
In 2008 the Australian artist, Stelarc, began a project in which he grew a genetically-cloned ear on his left arm. This cloned organ will, after continuing surgery, be fitted with a microphone and linked to the internet, so that we will all be able to listen, from our PCs, to what Stelarc is hearing through his 'extra ear'. At the same time, the French artist, Orlan, produced an installation, Harlequin Coat, which uses recombinant DNA technology to fuse living cells taken from her body with the cells of other humans, and animals.
Bob Dickinson talks to these artists and others, including Marina Abramovic, Franko B and the Chinese artist He Yun Chang, and asks them what makes them want to endure discomfort, pain and isolation. He reports on the way in which certain artists are now moving away from the limited space of their bodies, fascinated by the way technology and genetic engineering are remapping our understanding of the self.

Episode 2
Deborah Findlay continues Kate Summerscale's account of the Victorian murder case that shook the nation
Celebrated detective Jack Whicher has been called to a remote country house, Road Hill, in Wiltshire in 1860 to investigate the horrific murder of a young child. Most shockingly of all, perhaps, it seems the killer is among the household.
Convinced that the local police's chief suspect is innocent, Whicher begins to piece together the family history of those at Road Hill House. Before long, he uncovers a web of deception and concealment going back decades. Everyone seems guilty, because everyone has something to hide. But not all of them are murderers...Finally, convinced that his instincts are correct, he makes an arrest that shocks disbelieving locals.

2. Origins of Modern Policing
Over the course of the nineteenth century, murder - in reality a rarity - became ubiquitous: transformed into novels, into broadsides and ballads, into theatre and melodrama. "The Invention of Murder" explores the Victorian fascination with deadly violence by relating some of the century's most gripping and gruesome cases and the ways in which they were commercially exploited.
Despite rising crime figures - and increasingly crowded cities - the public were reluctant to accept the establishment of an organised police force. This episode examines the reasons for that unwillingness and offers a fascinating insight into the origins of modern policing.

Nimrod
Edward Elgar's incomparable Nimrod, and the part it plays in people's lives, is explored this week:
Composed as part of the Enigma Variations in the latter part of the 19th century, Nimrod was inspired by Elgar's friend and music editor, Augustus Jaeger.
In an interview for this programme, Jaeger's granddaughter, Gillian Scully, talks about her grandfather and describes hearing her own granddaughter playing Nimrod at a school concert.
The Right Reverend Nigel McCulloch - National Chaplain to the Royal British Legion - talks about hearing it played at the Festival of Remembrance in the Royal Albert Hall stirring memories of his own father who died in WW2, and serving as a reminder of all those lost or injured in war.
Margaret Evison's son, Lieutenant Mark Evison of the Welsh Guards, was killed in Afghanistan in 2009. Nimrod played an important part in his funeral which was held at The Guard's Chapel in London.
For Lord Victor Adebowale, Chief Executive of the charity Turning Point, Nimrod is a piece that reminds him of his father and the struggles he had as a Nigerian immigrant to the UK.
Composer and conductor, Paul Spicer, plays through Nimrod at the piano exploring why it is a piece that stirs such deep emotions.

The Confession of Dr Phil Hammond
Actor, comedian and broadcaster Stephen Mangan presents a new comedy chat show about shame and guilt.
Each week, Stephen invites a different guest into his virtual confessional box to make three confessions - with remarkable storytelling and surprising insights.
We’re used to hearing celebrity interviews where stars are persuaded to show off about their achievements. Stephen's not interested in that. He doesn’t want to know about his guests' proudest moments, he wants to know what they’re ashamed of. That’s surely the way to find out what really makes a person tick.
Stephen and his guest reflect with empathy and humour on why we get embarrassed, where our shame thresholds should be, and the value of guilt.
Series guests include Marian Keyes, Cariad Lloyd, Joan Bakewell, Suzi Ruffell, Clarke Peters and many more.
This week, Phil Hammond, doctor, journalist and the medical correspondent for Private Eye, delivers some eye watering accounts of youthful mistakes, dubious diagnoses and Twitter storms.

The decreasing age of the British population - in the 1820s half the country was under 25 - meant there was a lucrative market for lively entertainment. Children flocked to penny gaffs: unlicensed theatres which offered cheap entertainment, often dramatisations of notorious murders. One of the most infamous, the Red Barn Murder of 1828, was being performed as a melodrama even before the prime suspect was put on trial.

London
We all leave. We all migrate from childhood to adulthood, from village to town to city, from single to married. We all hate and love where we are from. We are all immigrants of time. There are problems with home and a need to leave. There is a love of home and a need to leave. Goodbye is who we are.
Lemn Sissay explores what "home" means through stand-up, poetry and conversation. It's surely not just a physical location - it's the people, the memories, the feeling. It's not home if you don't belong there, it's just where you live.
The second of two shows was recorded in front of an audience in Lemn's adopted home of London. But he is still perhaps more closely associated with Manchester. He arrived there at the age of 18 with a birth certificate, a fist full of poems and a mouth. It was about to become Madchester. He grew into the talented adopted son of a wonderful, dysfunctional family and thrived. His poems have become landmarks throughout the city. He's tattooed its body. And then he left. He just left.
Talking to Lemn about his journey are Mancunian broadcaster Terry Christian, and artistic director of the Southbank Centre, Jude Kelly.
Lemn Sissay is the author of five collections of poetry. He has also written plays for stage and BBC radio. He was the first poet to write for the Olympics 2012 and received an MBE from the Queen for Services to Literature. He is associate artist at the Southbank Centre, and an (hon) doctor of letters. His radio documentary Child of the State was nominated for the 2010 Sony Awards. If you should google "Lemn sissay" all the returning hits will be about him. There is only one person named Lemn Sissay in the world.

Round one: Literature
The problem with quizzes is that the same questions keep coming up, like “What’s the name of the only member of ZZ Top without a beard?”*. So the more quizzes you do, the more predictable they get.
Luckily, here comes quizzer, comedian and Rose d’Or winner Paul Sinha with his new series, Paul Sinha’s Perfect Pub Quiz. In each episode he invites the audience to tell him their favourite quiz questions, before offering up not just different and surprising questions, but also the fascinating stories behind the answers.
It’s facts, jokes, stories and puns – just the way you like them.
This week's show is full of questions for the Literature Round of the quiz. Paul asks about the first work of sci-fi to depict a flight to the moon, an author's curiously-labelled filing cabinet and the best-selling British writer still alive at the time of recording. The audience, meanwhile, contribute questions about unusual verbs, literary hotels, and the works of Eric Morecambe.

Episode 4
Deborah Findlay continues Kate Summerscale's account of the Victorian murder case that shook the nation
1865. Bow Street, London. One April morning, Constance Kent, now 21, arrives at the magistrate's Court to confess a murder. On being told she will be sent for trial, Constance sighs, as if in relief.
After a short trial, in which Constance pleads guilty, the judge passes the death sentence, and Constance's notoriety is assured. Her crime is extolled in broadside ballads of the day, and her figure takes pride of place in Madame Tussaud's, Chamber of Horrors. But for a cold-blooded child murderer Constance has aroused an extraordinary level of sympathy, and within a matter of weeks, Queen Victoria spares her life. Only after the trial, do Constance's motives begin to come to light. Yet, somehow, the murder still doesn't add up....

4. Adelaide Bartlett
As the century progressed, so did advances in medical knowledge and expert witnesses were soon playing a major part in criminal trials. This episode looks at the sensational case of Adelaide Bartlett, who was accused of murdering her husband with chloroform in 1886. Newspapers and magazines pored over lurid details of the Bartletts' marriage and the case was responsible for inspiring a rash of fiction.

THU 14:30 The Six Faces of Henry VIII (b00kj2dy)
With the help of writers, historians, musicologists, film buffs and Alan Bennett, Ian Hislop sets out to analyse six images of Henry VIII which turn out to be rather better portraits of the periods in which they were created than they are historical insights into the King himself. However, given that his most famous portrait, by Hans Holbein, is itself an artfully drawn propaganda tool we shouldn't be all that surprised.
Henry has always been associated with numeric scale. The eighth Henry with six wives; nothing associated with him comes in ones and twos. And so it is with the images of our glowering, beefy, puffy-cheeked monarch. The range is enormous, from Hans Holbein's splay-footed heavyweight to the surly althleticism of Jonathan Rhys Meyers in BBC One's The Tudors.
Shakespeare produced an understandably careful dramatic portrait, but the Director Alexander Korda used his 1930's film The Private Life of Henry VIII to show us Charles Laughton as the consumate spoilt brat, a glutton with the heart of a valiant schoolboy and the stomach of several kings. This was the first time we saw a Henry who chucked chicken bones over his shoulder, slapped his thigh and laughed loudly, sure in the knowledge that the world would laugh with him.
And then there are the Operatic versions supplied in the 19th century by Saint Saens and Donnizetti respectively. Here Henry is more monster than man alongside the sad heroines Katherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn. They were, of course, coming from a rather more Catholic perspective. Meanwhile in Restoration History books he's a seventeenth century Hercules.
So who gets closest to the real King?
Ian Hislop enjoys nothing better than debunking myth, and there's plenty of myth that has accrued around Henry, or as the music-hall song had him 'our 'Enery'. But there's quite a lot of truth as well, not about the King but about the ages in which he was re-created. It seems that he and his doings are a perennial story for 'our' times, whenever those times might be.
But if the various images of Henry only serve to enlighten us about other periods long after the Tudors should we resort to the simple shock tactics of Alan Bennett's savy teacher in The History Boys and say 'for Henry VIII think Stalin?' Who better to answer that than Alan Bennett himself who joins Ian to create a sixth and, for our age, a final image of Henry VIII.

Middle Class Status
Quizzical everywoman and stand-up poet Kate Fox explores some of the things she does not want in life (and which she has cheerfully failed to achieve), and how much she has saved emotionally and financially in the process.
Kate looks at the subject of middle class status. Perhaps it's partly a Northern thing, but Kate is conflicted about buying ciabatta and living life in a Cath Kidston and Emma Bridgewater glow. What's wrong with putting ketchup bottles on the table and retaining flat vowels?
Although she feels this might have cost her over the course of her career, the price of keeping up Middle Class Appearances is equally costly. You've got to buy a house for a start (£272,000 on average), a middle class car like a Mondeo (£20,750) and have middle class children like Araminta and Horace (£133,000 each). However, is it hypocritical to say that you're not middle class if you've got a degree, a dog called Norbert and a Moleskin notebooks habit?
Kate asks the audience to be her Class Identity Counsellors and decide whether she is more waitress than Waitrose.
Kate Fox is a comedian and poet from the North East of England. She has contributed poems and comic pieces to many Radio 4 programmes including Saturday Live, Wondermentalist Cabaret, From Fact to Fiction, Woman's Hour and Arthur Smith's Balham Bash.

Episode 5
Deborah Findlay concludes Kate Summerscale's account of the Victorian murder case that shook the nation
1865. Millbank Prison. As Constance Kent begins her sentence in one of London's more squalid gaols, the remainder of the Kent family attempt to move on.
Now vindicated by Constance's confession, Jack Whicher's investigations become immortalised by the great crime novelists of the day.
Meanwhile, Constance's brother, William, becomes a celebrated scientist in Australia, and Constance, by contrast, ends up serving every day of her twenty-year sentence. On her release, she joins her brother in Australia, where she nurses in a lepers' colony, her past hidden from those around her. Only in 1928, with the arrival of an anonymous letter from Sydney, do the real events at Road Hill House back in 1860 finally come to light...

FRI 14:15 The Invention of Murder by Judith Flanders (b00xf9t2)
5. New Technology
The public imagination was particularly stirred when new technology was used to bring criminals to justice. This episode looks at one such case in which an enterprising railway clerk used the electric telegraph to send a description of a suspected murderer ahead of the train he was travelling on, so that the suspect could be met by police at his journey's end. And, bringing us right up to the final years of the century, how the funeral of an acclaimed actor - and murder victim - was captured on film for posterity.
By Judith Flanders.
Read by Robert Glenister.
Abridged by David Jackson Young.
Produced by Kirsteen Cameron.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in January 2011.
FRI 14:30 The Kampala Dream House (b06086dq)
Sarah Taylor visits this remarkable children's home in Kampala, Uganda.
Amidst the slums of Kampala, MLISADA is a success story. (Music, life skills and arts for destitution alleviation.)
It's a children's home set up and run by former street kids who learned to play brass instruments. 12 years on, it cares for 90 children, teaches them music and acrobatics and they are safe from the perils of street life. Former pupils like euphonium player, Franke, have gone on to be teachers within the wider school communities of Kampala. It's supported by keen brass players from around the world – including BA pilot and trumpet player, Jim Trott who took star trumpet players Alison Balsom and Guy Barker out there last January to run music workshops with the pupils.
Sarah talks to Alison about how her involvement with the work of Brass for Africa has influenced her approach to performing on concert platforms around the world.
Most importantly, if you get to live in the Dream House, as it's known by the kids, you've got a chance of a future. A future where you can learn to be a teacher, or simply access a better school and then go on to get a better job because you've got the bedrock of living at MLISADA. And you'll be a great trumpet player too!
