In each episode of this sixth series we hear, as ever, a confused, muddled and often challenging day-in-the-life of Count Arthur - with his mixed-up delivery of words and forthright self-delusion.

When Arthur attempts to return an item of clothing to a local shop, things don't quite go to plan - leading him to take some 'legal' advice at the Citizen's Advice Bureau. With an ever-increasing list of complaints, plus the possibility of having to acquire a puppy (or puppies) to boot, Arthur's day doesn't go quite as he'd hoped.

The occasion does give him a chance to take a trip down memory lane however, re-living an acting moment in a legal TV drama - which of course enables Arthur to give some sound advice of his own!

Emma Freud, Tricky, Richard Bacon, Maria Friedman, Stephen Woolley, Nikki Bedi, Blue Rose Code

Emma's stitched up by broadcaster Richard Bacon, whose new book 'A Series of Unrelated Events' hilariously reveals how he once managed to upset a band with a slip of the tongue on a live TV show and ruined a dinner party by transforming everything alcoholic into water. If you ever find yourself sobbing on top of a box of gherkins in the stockroom of a Mansfield McDonald's, Richard can advise. He's made the mistakes so that you don't have to.

Emma talks All That Jazz with actress Maria Friedman, who's starred in many a West End musical, including 'Chicago' and 'Ragtime'. Maria's currently directing Stephen Sondheim's 'Merrily We Roll Along', which charts the turbulent relationship between three friends, set over three decades in the entertainment business. It's at London's Harold Pinter Theatre until Saturday 27th July.

Another addition to this week's Wild Bunch is Angel With A Dirty Face and Knowle West Boy, Tricky. Nikki Bedi talks to the Bristolian Trip-Hop pioneer about the phenomenal success of his Mercury nominated debut solo album 'Maxinquaye', his trademark Sprechgesang vocal style, his Hollywood acting career and life in Paris. Tricky's back with tenth album 'False Idols' and performs new single 'Nothing Matters'.

Stephen Woolley knows all there is to know about The Crying Game... he produced the Oscar winning film of the same name. New film 'Byzantium' is the story of two mysterious women seeking refuge in a run‐down coastal resort. Born 200 years ago and surviving on human blood, knowledge of their secret spreads and their past catches up on them with deathly consequence. At UK cinemas from 31st May.

MON 14:15 Cosmic Quest (b00c3h8m)
Einstein's Biggest Blunder

Heather Couper presents a narrative history of astronomy.

In 1915, Albert Einstein found that he had to introduce a new factor into his equations of gravity to prevent the stars from falling in on one another. He called it the cosmological constant. But then, astronomers discovered that the light from galaxies was stretched in a way that could only be explained if the galaxies were flying apart from each other and the universe was expanding.

A recent twist to this tale came in the year 2000, when estimates of the rate of the expansion revealed that the most distant galaxies are accelerating. The only way to explain this was by a force called dark energy - in effect, a cosmological constant.

Series 1

Episode 4

A four-part sketch show co-written by and starring comedian and actress Kerry Godliman.

Kerry is a married mother of two, a stand up comedian and has two children. Her life can only properly function with her daily list - if she didn't compile this vital list, her life would simply fall apart.
Each week, this series looks at a different list and delves into Kerry's madcap world by looking at various elements of that week's list in sketches, narrative and stand up.

In this final episode, Kerry's List involves changing sheets, buying a kids book on where babies come from, getting her roots done, learning to knit, not drifting off, reading a classic and dusting the plants.

Joining Kerry is her husband Ben (played by her real husband Ben Abell) and her five year old daughter Elsie (played by Melissa Bury) together with a range of bizarre characters - including an enthusiastic council environment worker, some disgruntled satsumas, a bored therapist, a Fairy Jeanmother and a very keen gym instructor.

Any busy parent who's ever compiled a list of their own will relate to Kerry Godliman's incident filled world.

The cast includes David Pusey (who co-wrote the series), Bridget Christie, Lucy Briers, Rosie Cavaliero and Nicholas Le Prevost.

Kerry Godliman is fast establishing herself as a highly skilful stand up comic and actress, from her recent appearances on Live at The Apollo (BBC 1), Derek (C4) and Our Girl (BBC 1).

TUE 14:15 Cosmic Quest (b00c3hvl)
How the Universe Began

Heather Couper presents a narrative history of astronomy.

The discovery that the universe is expanding led cosmologists to suggest that its origin lay in a compact, dense, hot fireball. Cambridge astronomer Fred Hoyle thought this so ridiculous that he disparagingly called it the big bang. The name stuck and there followed intense arguments between supporters of the big bang theory and Fred Hoyle and his colleagues, who favoured a steady state universe.

A decisive blow to the latter theory came from a radio telescope in New Jersey in the early 1960s that detected a gentle background glow at microwave radio frequencies that theorists had predicted as the dying embers of the big bang itself.

WED 14:15 Cosmic Quest (b00c50x2)
Broadcasts from the Cosmos

Heather Couper presents a narrative history of astronomy.

Second World War radar research led to the discovery of radio broadcasts from the skies. A new science was born and radio astronomers started to build giant dishes to listen in to the cosmos, including the great radio telescope at Jodrell Bank, brainchild of Bernard Lovell.

In 1967, a field near Cambridge saw a strange new sort of telescope, consisting of 1,000 wooden posts and 120 miles of wire. It was with this that Jocelyn Bell discovered a regular cosmic heartbeat, a regular radio pulse. Researchers initially surmised that it might be a signal from an alien civilisation, but it was later found to emanate from an extremely dense spinning neutron star, the collapsed core of an exploded star or supernova. Soon dozens of these pulsars were known, taking physics to a new level.

On the 15th November 1979, Anthony Blunt was exposed as a Soviet spy. The former Cambridge don was at the peak of his career as an art historian - he was Surveyor of the Queen's Pictures, had received a knighthood, and as director of the Courtauld Institute, had made it one of the most prestigious centres for the study of art history.

The news was greeted with outcry by the public for whom Blunt represented elitism and sordid decadence. Blunt was stripped of his knighthood, hounded by the press, and never returned to the Institute he had dedicated his life to. But to his students, Blunt was a remarkable tutor who had given them their careers, many as staff at the Institute.

Joining Sue around the table is: Booker-prize winning author and past tutor at the Institute, Anita Brookner; Director of the British Museum, Neil MacGregor; travel-writer Michael Jacobs; founder of the Art Newspaper, Anna Somers Cocks, and the art critic who was a close personal friend of Blunt's, Brian Sewell.

FRI 14:15 Cosmic Quest (b00c843k)
Squashed Stars and Black Holes

Heather Couper presents a narrative history of astronomy.

As long ago as 1783, the rector of a small Yorkshire church suggested that the gravity of a very massive star might be strong enough to pull its light back and prevent it from shining. It was not until the 1930s, however, that Subramanyan Chandrasekhar suggested a mechanism through which such a star might form, and even then he was ridiculed by his peers. But the concept slowly gained ground, and in the late 1960s the first x-ray telescope in space pinpointed the first black hole to be discovered in orbit around a normal star.

A black hole seems to defy notions of common sense and even of normal physics. Light, information and travellers would have no escape from its gravity. At its heart, matter and even space and time would be squashed out of existence. Yet there is a small theoretical chance that someone entering a spinning black hole might survive to emerge in another universe.

Readers are Timothy West, Robin Sebastian, Julian Rhind-Tutt and John Palmer.
