Introduced by the mysterious H.P. Lovecraft, Weird Tales is a series of three chilling and intimate plays for the late night slot on Radio 4.

Drawing the audience into a claustrophobic and disturbing world, the plays set out to explore the characters' deepest fears and torments. The series will concentrate on the psychological element of the horror genre stirring the imagination of the listener.

One hundred years ago, H.P. Lovecraft created The Necronomicon, a grimoire of lost souls, magical rites and forbidden lore. Locked away, he is after new stories, new blood, to add to his collection. From ghosts to demons, the plays draw the audience into a claustrophobic and disturbing world, exploring the audience's deepest fears and neuroses.

Eddie Braben penned some of Morecambe and Wise’s most famous lines. But that wasn't the only string to his bow – other beneficiaries of his strong comic writing include Ken Dodd and Jimmy Cricket.

Eddie himself also steps into the spotlight to helm his own vehicle the Worst Show on the Wireless – with Alison Steadman.

In between his selections, Eddie reminisces about radio and what it has meant to him.

Clive revisits Brideshead with actress Diana Quick and talks to her about playing Julia Flyte; the beautiful and mercurial belle of the Flyte clan in 'Brideshead Revisited'. Diana's now starring as 'Kettle', a selfish woman embroiled in a tale about a family facing the loss of their beloved French holiday home. 'Mother's Milk' is showing at cinemas from Friday 9th November.

Robin Ince shares some toilet humour with author and cartoonist Richard Smyth, whose book 'Bum Fodder: An Absorbing History of Toilet Paper', details the origin of the humble loo roll and how our ancestors coped without it. Richard also gets to the bottom of how toilet paper even played a part in British espionage during World War II.

Clive squares up to musician, broadcaster and native New Yorker Huey Morgan and talks to him about life as a DJ on BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music and his other job as rock 'n' roll Renaissance Man and Fun Lovin' Criminal. Huey's come a long way from the ladies man who twinkled his wise-guy way through his Fun Lovin' 90's and is now going solo. He performs 'Fall Into Me' from his debut solo album 'Say It To My Face'.

And more music from a lady who needs no introduction, Grammy Award-winning soul singer-songwriter Joss Stone performs 'Teardrops' from her album 'The Soul Sessions Volume 2'.

Rudy has recently married his long-term love interest Doreen (Claire Benedict) who is enjoying the challenge of getting the Sharpe men in shape.

The St Ives School of Painting

The writer and transvestite Vera Sackcloth-Vest and her bosom chum, the novelist Ginny Fox, go down to St Ives in search of the writer of very naughty books Mr D.H. Lollipop. Their husbands, Henry and Lionel, accompany them, hoping to prevent their wives from succumbing to the dangerous animal magnetism of Lollipop, whose book Lady Hattersley's Plover has scandalized and unsettled them all.

Vera's persistent and flamboyant admirer Venus Traduces arrives, desperate to re-kindle their Sapphic passion. However she is distracted when, on the cliff path, she meets a thin man with a red beard who exudes animal magnetism. He informs her that his wife is away in London being painted by Augustus John, invites Venus to call him Dave, and ravishes her in the brambles.

Meanwhile, though Vera and Ginny seem to search in vain for Lollipop, he is always much closer than they think.

The eponymous series is set in a sleepy railway station. Mild-mannered Ticket Clerk Bert wants to work anywhere but on the railways. His colleague, Station Announcer Gloria Simpkins, secretly loves him. Porter Percy Valentine is an archetypal wheeler-dealer and the ancient Signalman, Bradshaw, causes havoc and dispenses home-made remedies in equal measure. The 'Parsley Sidings' nemesis is Phineas Perkins, the station master of Potwhistle Halt, one stop down the line.

Starring Arthur Lowe as Horace, Ian Lavender as Bert, Kenneth Connor as Percy, Liz Fraser as Gloria and Elizabeth Morgan as Ethel.
