SAT 09:00 Double or Nothing: Partnerships in Radio Comedy (b007wdvv)
Hugh Dennis sets out to prove that two of anything is fun - and that radio comedy is especially good served in pairs. He presents a selection of six comic duos: Little Britain (March 2002), Much Binding in the Marsh (Feb 1949), In All Directions (Oct 1952), Absolute Power (Jan 2002), Armstrong and Miller (March 1998), and Laurel and Hardy On Tour (2006).

Over three hours, you'll get a firm flavour of the dynamics of double acts in action. Double acts aren't always performers - writing partnerships are just as important, and sometimes it's a couple of characters which make great comedic chemistry.

An alumni of Cambridge footlights, Hugh Dennis is perhaps best known for his own association with Steve Punt - both hosts of BBC Radio 4's long-running comedy hit The Now Show, as well as part of the legendary line-up in 4 Extra's archive stable-mate The Mary Whitehouse Experience. Round The Horne was born out of the demise of BBC radio comedy Beyond Our Ken, after the end of writer Eric Merriman's involvement. Temptation

Ronnie Corbett reunites with the writers of his hit TV comedy 'Sorry', Ian Davidson and Peter Vincent, in the second series of their Radio 4 sitcom.

Ronnie plays Sandy Hopper, who is growing old happily along with his dog Henry. His grown up children, both married to people Sandy doesn't approve of at all, would like him to move out of the family home so they can get their hands on their money earlier. But Sandy's not having this. He's not moving until the dog dies. And not just that, how can he move if he's got a lodger? His daughter is convinced that his too attractive lodger Dolores (Liza Tarbuck) is after Sandy and his money.

Luckily Sandy has three grandchildren and sometimes a friendly word - a kindly hand on the shoulder can really help a Granddad in the twenty-first century. Man and dog together face a complicated world. There's every chance they'll make it more so.

Episode Three - Temptation
Generous Sandy splashes out just a little - with his sponsorship of son-in-law Blake's noble efforts in a charity marathon. Too late, he discovers he's splashed out a whole lot. But the promise is signed, his generosity even announced on the net. Is there a way round this? Listeners should have a pencil and paper handy.

Nikki Bedi tries to give some dating advice to the comedian with OCD, Jon Richardson. In his latest book 'It's Not Me, It's You', Jon sets out to track down the right lady. But coming from the man who arranges the coins in his pockets in ascending size and colour, women who leave wet teaspoons in sugar bowls need not apply.

There's 'gyp-step' music from Molotov Jukebox, the energetic six-piece band (fronted by actress and accordionist Natalia Tena, of 'Harry Potter' and 'About A Boy' fame). They perform 'Double Dare' from their debut EP of the same name.

And from busking on the London Underground, Brixton Bluesman Errol Linton comes above ground to play 'Roll On Tomorrow' from his latest album 'Mama Said'.

Producer: Cathie Mahoney.

Simon Day talks to Peter Hook

Chain Reaction is Radio 4's tag-team interview show. Each week, a figure from the world of entertainment chooses another to interview; the next week, the interviewee turns interviewer, and they in turn pass the baton on to someone else - creating a 'chain' throughout the series.

This seventh series started with Rhys Thomas interviewing Simon Day. This week, Simon is asking the questions, and has chosen one of his musical heroes: Peter Hook, best known for playing bass in Joy Divison and New Order, and for co-owning and running one of the most famous nightclubs in the world - which lost £10 for every punter who walked through the door for over a decade. The interview skips through the early days of punk, Joy Division's transformation into New Order, and Peter's new career as a DJ. "I thought DJs were arrogant and overpaid", he says, "So when I became one I fitted right in".
